One thing I always thought I'd do with this eponymous blog is tell more personal stories at some point. I work enough that the content pretty much reflects my life -- but unlike earlier in my career, now I try and to take vacations to periodically reset and refresh. This blog post talks about one of them.
If you've ever been to Austin for SXSW, what you may not know is that it's spring break - not just "for geeks," but for many schools in Texas, including UT Austin. So I requested to have my SXSW session on opening day, then left with the family for a full week the next morning.

I saw your 4sq check-in at Aulani and wanted to ask you about it. This recap / review is more than I could have ever expected in response - wow! And thank you. Glad you guys had some good times off the grid.

Nice overview, Peter Kim . . . did you miss the Byodo-In Temple? http://www.byodo-in.com/ I think that is one of the best places to visit . . . so full of peace and gives one a respite from travelling activity.

I have wanted to stay at Ko Olina since it opened, not necessarily Aulani, since I don't have kids, but it would be fun to take the grandkids there. We went out and visited before it was actually opened. I love the 3 lagoons they have fronting the resorts, very cool. Great place for the kids to play in the ocean and still be safe.
